The second entry in our Best Cycling Routes in Devon focuses on North Devon.

The Tarka Trail – Braunton to MeethTarka Trail

This cycle route that stretches over 32 miles from Braunton to Meeth, is completely traffic free and dedicated to cyclists and those on foot. The name the ‘Tarka Trail’ comes from the classic tale written by Henry Williamson, that follows the journey of Tarka the Otter down the coast.

The route takes you through Barnstable, Bideford and Great Torrington, giving you plenty of places to stop and grab some food and enjoy the coastal towns.

During your cycle, you’ll be sure to see rare species of birds, flowers and other wildlife, while you’ll also be able to take in the stunning views across the coast and finally in Meeth, you’ll have a great view of Dartmoor while you’re going through the remote countryside.
